No, they're quite different, Joan.

Ferritin is stored iron. Iron levels fluctuate throughout the day and ferritin is a storehouse from which the body extracts additional iron required and dumps back excess iron not needed. Optimal levels of iron will be 70-90.

B12 is a vitamin obtained from meat and fish only. Vegetarians and vegans need supplemental B12 as they cannot obtain B12 from plant foods. People with gut/absorption issues may also need to supplement B12 sublingually or with patches or sprays. People with pernicious anaemia need life long injections of B12 as may people who have had bariatric &/or colon surgery, Chrone's disease and others.
