It is a rather long but interesting article and has some parallels to what thyroid patients find actually gets them well compared to the 'science' that endocrinology presents. PR

Thanks PR4NOW for the article. It was interesting reading and it just goes to show how manipulative it can be for some to pronounce views that pervade society, when scientific evidence is ignored, despite evidence to the contrary.

As you and have pointed out re the parallels with thyroid hormones, scientific evidence for the use of NDT or the addition of T3 improving patients' health is also ignored, despite a direct scientific statement by Dr Lowe to the BTA but I guess it is conceit by the Organisation itself as they believe that their non-scientific views are superior to that of well researched articles.

shaws, just for fun I looked up hypothyroidism on Wikipedia. There are several points I do not agree with. I would consider it somewhat slanted to say the least. PR

In general, we all have the choice of making edits to Wiki. (I know that the reality isn't always that simple with some areas which have restrictions, some people who pounce on any change, etc.) And I have made some Wiki edits myself - but not yet to any thyroid-related areas.

Always best to check out the discussion areas before diving in. :-)

(I disagree with the spelling of "goitre". :-) )

Rod, I did take a look at some of the discussions but this is not something I have the time for at this point. I'm afraid I'll have to leave that project to someone else. I am much more concerned about ATA's 2014 Guidelines which are attempting to establish a legal framework for doctors to be prosecuted against. The ATA is getting desperate and I fear things could get ugly here in the US. We will have to wait and see what happens over the next few months. With all the webinars this year I've been of the opinion that the cat is out of the bag but the ATA may try and stuff it back in. PR

That is a lovely word 'applicable to the ATA' et all. 'Stuff it' from the people who don't get well under their restrictive guidelines.
