Iodine and HTMA tests

Can anyone recommend somewhere good to have these tests performed (Iodine profile and Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis)? I have looked into Genova and B.H. etc. but I was wondering if anyone has had these tests done, where you had it done and how it went.

Don't know where you'd get it done, but iodine is measured by urinary excretion. It's not a complicated test actually. Should be done routinely for anyone with elevated TSH but no antibodies. And I don't mean a TSH of 100. But anything above 2.5 up to 10.0. Yes. Or nontoxic goitre.

Apparently, according to studies done in England, 70%+ of school girls are iodine deficient based on urinary iodine excretion tests. This is HUGE. It means there are a major percentage of girls who are functioning at reduced I.Q. Iodine deficiency results in a lowering of IQ by 10 to 15 points. Iron deficiency another 10 - 15 points. Zinc deficiency another 10 points. Zinc deficient children are not able to pay attention in school. So you have a person with a potential IQ of 130 functioning at what? 75? 80? It's a disgrace. This is why children in places like the Congo are underfunctioning. But children in England are the same (minus malaria, yellow fever, dengue and whatever else is one the menu in Africa). The intellectual potential of our younger generation is at risk. And nobody cares. As long as the banks are laundering money and the financial institutions are laundering money, it's all good. In fact better that young people can't figure out how they are being scr**ed of their future.

Am I angry? Yes I am. The more I know the worse it is. Public health has dropped the ball big time.

Look up urinary excretion iodine testing. Test the selenium and magnesium while you are at it.

cheers.

Tony I had my iodine levels tested by Genova combined with a urinary thyroid test earlier this year. It showed 90 in a range of 100 - 199, so I am now supplementing. I think you can get that test done on its own without the thyroid part. I've never had a hair mineral analysis done but would be interested if you find someone good for this.

Hi Framboise. That's what we are going to do I think, Genova 24 h urine , t3/t4.

How much iodine do you take ?

Hi edysia, I'm currently taking a combined tablet called Thyro Complex from Nutri which contains 75μg and 50% RDA per tablet and I take 2 but should go up to 3. I may go on to Iodoral eventually if I can't increase the level this way but liked the sound of this mix and it was formulated by Martin Budd who I saw years ago.

This shows the complete list of ingredients in it:

If you find somewhere to carry out a reliable hair mineral analysis I'd love to know about it as I want to get that done too.

I've had the iodine test just recently, at Genova, and was found to be very low. Can't speak about the other tests you mentioned. I've used Genova before, without any problems, and Dr. P. also recommended them. Hope this helps.
