Tests ordered! Iodine question

Thank you everyone for your replies on my last post I have ordered a full T3 thyroid blood tests privately with Blue Horizon. These should arrive tomorrow and my aunt who is a phlebotomist is going to take them so luckily that saves me some money. I have been reading about iodine and how even without thyroid being involved it is a good suppliment to take so Ive ordered some lugols iodoine 12% to take when I find out the results, no sooner. I start IV vitamin replacement Tuesday so want to focus on that first. I am hoping that once I get the results things will be much clearer. My question is with the iodine what is good to take alongside?

Be very careful with iodine. If you are currently sufficiently provided with iodine in the diet AND you have active residual thyroid tissue, the Lugol can actually inhibit thyroid production of T4 and T3 and cause more problems than it solves. Also in Hashimotos disease there is a distinct possibility of thyroid storm which is life threatening. If you have no working thyroid, then iodine is useless as it cannot be used to make T4 or T3. You should get expert advice before using iodine.

Be careful with iodine. Actually in iodine deficiency ft3 can be normal or even high as your thyroid gland compensate low ft4 by increasing the conversion.

Iodine can be good thing, but start low and do it slowly so you can go off without doing too much harm.

Has iodine been included in your tests? You should not take iodine without getting tested first. Excess iodine is not a good thing to have - more is not better. In fact, it can cause you a lot of problems.

Many people conside that taking iodine unless you are actually deficient is bad for the thyroid - it used to be used as a treatment for HYPERthyroidism. If you are determined to try it, join Roderick Lane's Facebook group called Thyroid Care Group, at least he has some experience with it and is in the UK.
