Antibodies are negative for autoimmune thyroid disease.

Folate is good.

B12 could be better. According to an extract from the book, "Could it be B12?" by Sally M. Pacholok:

"We believe that the 'normal' serum B12 threshold needs to be raised from 200 pg/ml to at least 450 pg/ml because deficiencies begin to appear in the cerebrospinal fluid below 550".

"For brain and nervous system health and prevention of disease in older adults, serum B12 levels should be maintained near or above 1000 pg/ml."

Maybe supplement with one bottle of sublingual B12 methylcobalamin along with a good quality bioavailable B Complex to keep all the B vitamins balanced. When the B12 is finished just continue with the B Complex.

I have used Thorne Basic B for a long time and always been happy.

If you look at different brands then look for the words "bioavailable" or "bioactive" and ensure they contain methylcobalamin (not cyanocobalamin) and methylfolate (not folic acid). Avoid any that contain Vit C as this stops the body from using the B12. Vit C and B12 need to be taken 2 hours apart.

When taking a B Complex we should leave this off for 3-7 days before any blood test because it contains biotin and this gives false results when biotin is used in the testing procedure (which most labs do).

Hey:)

Thanks so much for all your information and reply.

I shall definitely look into getting some B12 and B complex. I shall look for what you have mentioned.

I am very happy the other results are okay.

Thank you for looking at this for me.

Before you supplement with B12, ask your GP to check that you do NOT have pernicious anaemia.

I have pernicious anaemia and have to have regular injections.

Excerpt:

Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anaemia occurs when a lack of either of these vitamins affects the body's ability to produce fully functioning red blood cells.

Red blood cells carry oxygen around the body. Most people with vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anaemia have underdeveloped red blood cells that are larger than normal. The medical term for this is megaloblastic anaemia.

A vitamin B12 or folate deficiency can be the result of a variety of problems.

Always test thyroid levels early morning, ideally before 9am

Your not on any replacement thyroid hormone ?

Suggest you retest full thyroid and vitamins 3-4 months after working on improving low B12 and deficient ferritin

It’s going to take long time to improve such low ferritin levels ….perhaps 6-12 months

Hiya,

Thank you so much for writing back to me.

I have asked for the iron panel test and they won't do it. So I may have to go private for that at some point as well.

I haven't been on any thyroid replacement tablets , haven't ever had anything like that.

I have managed to get some thyroid tests from the hospital but they won't do anymore for me or T3.

Many thanks
