I just started T3 it is only small dose 5mg per day, I wee a lot, diarea, sweating a lot , bitter tongue. It is only 4 days. The benefit of t3 now I noticed, numbness of the legs and hands are improving. I am also on 50 mg thyroxine. Anyone there are having the same problems. Or any advice? Thanks.

Hi I started on t3 around 6 weeks ago having been on 100 levothyroxine ..I'm now on 1 and quarter of 25mcg ..I take half am and half midday then quarter at 5 pm .I have been sweating alot and very tierd ..exhausted really ..my finger wrinkles have smoothed out and my temperature is now up to 36 .8 from 34 or 35 but no weight loss and as yet no real benefits ..I'm now very depressed as thought this would really help me ..I'm self medicating .I don't know where to turn from here and wish I could be more positive

I should add that within 2 hours of sweating I'm frozen with hands and feet hurting..maybe I've done it all too quickly I'm not sure ..

SSE, I think you ought to check your adrenals. Do you mean 5 mcg? Because 5mg is a lot more. However, 5 mcg is probably too small to really do anything.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry it is 5 mcg. Even it is small dose but it just made me very ill. My stomach was aching, bad diarrhoea. I want to have the medication but I cannot have it. How frustrating. I saw an endo lately he checked my adrenal, he said I am fine. People please advice what this could be. Thanks.

By the way i am not very good at a few medications, supplements. A little achohol will me sleepy.

SSE106, 5mcg is a very low dose but you may be very sensitive to T3. Cut the tablet in quarters and take 2 x 1.25mcg doses 4/6 hours apart daily for a few days. If you tolerate it well increase to 2 x 2.5mcg daily. If the symptoms persist you might be better off stopping T3 and increasing Levothyroxine.

or there could be something you're lacking - there's no such thing as a drug deficiency (maybe a Thyroid hormone one 'tho!) so please check irons, ferritin, folate & B12 and Vit D (lots more but that's enough for starters).

I have been sweating recently - it's a relatively new experience but such a relief! I'm guessing it's a way to get rid of stuff, toxins, I feel I'm detoxing, not sure what but lost 4lbs (I am taking a little T3 with NDT) J :D
