Lloyds Pharmacy - WP THYROID

I have read on another forum that Lloyds Pharmacy have applied for a licence to stock WP Thyroid made by RLC Labs. ( formerly known as Westhroid - P ).

This can only be good news.

Hope it's true.....

It's great news and hopefully they can source a cheaper liothyronine from abroad as I feel the cost to the NHS for T3 is exorbitant and besides it gives us an alternative.

Not sure it will make any real difference - after all, it looks as if Idis is able to hold a stock of Armour Thyroid within the UK, but that doesn't make it much easier to get a GP to prescribe it. There is the extreme outside possibility that they are going for a full product licence, but I rather doubt it.

It would be good if it did have a real impact.

I agree about Liothyronine but again, I doubt they will be putting in for a full product licence even if they could.

That would be great - prescription only….?

All proper desiccated thyroid (rather than "nutritional supplements") are indeed prescription-only within the UK.
