Hi all 12weeks ago I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism
Just come back from endo after getting results of my scan and bloods he told me I'm positive for both graves and hashi
Bloods show I'm now hypo he said it was because meds need reducing
He is lovely patient man and answered all my questions with fully when it told him I had found out a lot from this sight he said that's good and actively encourages patient to help themselves he even gave me next nhs blood form already filled in when I said I had gone long time undiagnosed because gp was only testing tsh
I saw him privately through work which doesn't cover long term treatment so he is putting me on his nhs list although he did warn me long waits on nhs even gave me his copies of blood results and told me to keep file and bring them to every appointment so nice to have a good endo after all I read on here
I the one thing I like to no is has anyone here got both graves and hashi and is there anything I should look out for or do to help myself although I'm now under I feel much better than over can put up with joint pain and getting fat really couldn't cope with hyper symptoms thought I was going to die
Any suggestion please
Ps sorry for rambling post

Rush, you endo sounds lovely. Please pass his details on to louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk to add to TUK's recommended list.
It's not uncommon to have both Graves and Hashi antibodies. Gluten free diet can reduce antibodies of both and helps with bloating, gas, constipation and diarrhoea.
Ask your GP to test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as hyperhyroid and hypothyroid patients are often deficient/low and these deficiencies can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Post your results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) in a new question and members will advise whether supplementation is required.
Thanks clutter I take the gluten free advise on board my daughter has sle lupus and I know it helps her
I'll email endo to Louise
He really was good and I came out on cloud nine even with the news blood test are below but he did every blood test under the sun when I told him I was having pain in legs hands tingling ect ect he checked all of my
Piturity gland and adrenal and victims the only one that is significantly elevated is one. Called alt I google this I think it could be because of carbimazole
And cortisol when I googled this it seems to be. Stress hormone
Tsh 2.010. Range 0.270-4.200
Fre t4 8.66 range 12.22
Tsh receptor Antibodies 0.6 range 0.0-0.4
thyroid per oxidase antibodies 334.0 range 60-100
Cortisol 665 range 171-536
B12 -338
Vitamin d- 115 for some reason it doesn't show ranges on vitamin sheet there is another 24 tests but all are showing quite comfortably in range except
Rush, TSH is creeping up and FT4 is low so you are a little overmedicated.
B12 is in range but a little low. Neuropathy can be experienced <500 so some of us like to supplement methylcobalamin until it is high in range. If there are any other tests scheduled re the tingling and leg pain hold off supplementing.
VitD optimal range is 75-200 so yours is fine but it's a good idea to supplement 1,000-2,000iu D3 October-April when light levels are too low to stimulate vitD.
Thanks will do I have emailed louise the endo might be good lets hope I can gp on side that's the one who has been telling me for past. Year and half it is everything but thyroid
