I have tested positive to thyroid peroxidase antibody 212iu ml. The reference - 0 - 34) I can see I am way over the ideal ranges I am currently taking thyroxine for underactive thyroid. How do I treat these antibodies ? I was not told a reason why I may have them. Any information would be great.

Ter1, autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Treatment is Levothyroxine which often reduces the antibodies and a gluten-free diet is often beneficial for many, but not all, Hashi patients.
Most medics don't know how to treat Hashi's they think you just have to put up with it. I was diagnosed with high levels TPO about 8 months ago. I read Isabella Wentz and also Robb Wolf "The Paleo solution" and decided to go gluten and lacto free. Yes, I also learned that selenium is important. You need to be careful if you are pregnant, get professional advice if you can, read as much as possible. TUK has book reviews on line and books you can borrow. I am not 100% but better than I was 12 months ago.
