Hi,, recently noticed my tiredness increasing and now feel very fatigued. Generally hardly wake all day and have spoken to doc who is going to run whole blood screen this week. My thyroid has dropped in past and I've known the signs but this feels different to that. I've checked my iron levels over last few years and that plus folate have been steadily decreasing. It's not made any easier by fact I don't eat red meat due to health reasons. My most recent iron level , may this year, is 14 (11_30) Folate 5.1 (3.8 _ 16??) . I feel very tired, low mood, aches in legs and generally not well. My b12 is mid range, I always thought that was ok but maybe not? I've been told by few people that spatone is good as iron pills are tough on stomach. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this. I won't take anything before tests of course. Thanks in advance.

Possible iron deficiency,, advice please....
Hi Ian
It's good that GP is going to run full blood tests and I hope it contains Vit B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate as well as TSH, T4, T3, FT4 and FT3 (lab probably wont do last 3 but you can always ask).
Don't take levo before your blood test take it afterwards. If you've eaten leave 2 hours either side of taking levo. If you take levo at night, miss this and take after blood test.
All our minerals/vitamins should be in the upper half of the range, at least:

Get a copy of the results from the surgery, with the ranges, and post them for comments.
Might be an idea to compare different iron products. I personally found Spatone did nothing so use Floradix.
Yeah they one looks good to plus it's got some extras in there
ferrous suphate is hard on the stomach. Ferrous fumarate is much better
