Making progress...

Hi all,

I am very pleased to say that I had a completely different experience at my doctors this morning after requesting a different doctor & asking for a second opinion. Without any fuss she looked at my lastest blood test results & prescribed me Levothyroxine. I am also already on vitamin d - 800iu 2-3 times daily.

I am to start on 50mg of Levo for two weeks, then increase to 100mg per day for a further two weeks assuming I'm feeling no adverse effects from it. I go back for a follow up appointment at that point. She checked my pulse rate & said she would check that again to make sure I wasn't taking too much & overdosing when I go back, then further blood tests in 3 months.

All sounds pretty reasonable to me?!

I don't believe they previously checked b12 or the other vitamins I've seen people mention that can be an issue, should I ask for these to be tested when I go back too?

I can't tell you how relieved I am that they're actually doing something to treat my symptoms... I hope it doesn't take too long to get into my system, I can't wait to feel a little better. I know it won't happen over night but it's a start right?!

That sounds good. 50 to 100 is a big jump though and two weeks might be a bit soon.

You might want to go 50, 75, 100 at six week intervals to ensure your body gets used to it.

Let us know how you get on.
