Hi has anyone else tried Selenium, I read an article on it earlier today & thought I would give it a go
Selenium: Hi has anyone else tried Selenium, I... - Thyroid UK
Selenium
Lisa, Selenium is certainly recommended for hypothyroidism to improve thyroid function. I don't know whether this is so good for hyperthyroidism.
Hi Lisa, funnily enough I have read about it several times and in fact ordered some. It arrived today, but also I did read that you have to be careful to get the dose right. So I think I will postpone taking it until I can find out a bit more. If you receive any other information I would be grateful to know. Thanks, Caroline
Selenium seems most definitely to be one of the things you do not want to take too much of. Even in modest doses there are question marks at even quite commonly used doses:

Dear Lisa-59
If you type in selenium into the search bar on this site you will see many posts about this.
Its an important supplement for thyroid sufferers.
Good luck

Have you tried dietary sources? Food generally considered safer . I think brazil nuts the highest selenium content.- even choc. coated count and I think only about 2 a day necessary Google it and see what you think
Yes it's good for you..not if you have a nut allergy
Thanks everyone xx
yup good for your thyroid. I eat 2 brazil nuts a day that is it
BTW vitamin D3 is also important I take 5,000 IU in liquid form a day does a body good especially the immune system
Thank you! What does IU mean & do you get your vits on prescription?
