Simone, why are you concerned about your TSH? TSH just above or below 1.0 is usually considered 'ideal' although some people need it 0.05 or even suppressed <0.03 to feel well. TSH follows circadian rhythms and fluctuates according to the time of day and summer/winter so it is advisable to have thyroid bloods drawn at approximately the same time of day.
FT4 is considered 'ideal' when it is in the top 75% of range.
Thank you for replying, it isn't that i'm concerned about the level of TSH, its more that my GP does not give me any answers or reassurance, and to be honest I have never been told what is normal or not. Even with my goitre they say I am normal and within limits, what does this mean.... They would prefer me not to take Levothyroxine, even though I tell them I feel better on it, albeit 50, I have tried to explain that was tired all the time, my weight increased beyond 3 stone now, eating very little, my eyebrows are memories etc etc etc, since I started Levo, I feel almost human, not depressed and I have my nails back again, and for me my nails not breaking is wonderful.. My GP wants to take me off Levo and put me back on anti D's, they can not understand that I am NOT DEPRESSED, JUST FED UP.... I'm sorry for the rant but I feel they are labelling me as a time waster.....
If the doctors refuse to continue your Levothyroxine you can buy it online. It is also available over the counter in Greece, Turkey etc. You have proved it works for you. It seems cruel of the doctors to want to take you off it. You could tell them that if they insist on not prescribing it you would like referrals to a dermatologist, rheumatologist, psychiatrist, sleep clinic, ME/CFS clinic, dietician AND any other ologist you can think of to find out what all your hypothyroid symptoms are being caused by if it's not your thyroid. That will cost the practice a fortune compared with Levothyroxine!
