Had blood tests and nothing has resulted, could it be a thyroid connection. Am on 175g of thyroxine for a problem had 20 years.

six months ago I developed a very sore tongue, it looks like a burn and is painful, been going back and forth to doctor with no answers?
Leros, Welcome to the forum.
I think tongue soreness can be a symptom when undiagnosed and unmedicated but I doubt it will be a hypothyroid symptom on 175mcg Levothyroxine. It may be worth asking your dentist if s/he has any idea what it is. Your dentist may be more clued up about oral health than your GP.

Have you seen your dentist? It could be useful to make an appointment as your GP isn't offering any help, and as it has been causing you a problem for so long.
Does it look like geographic tongue? This can occasionally be painful.
Anyway, Your dentist is the person to consult , and will refer you on to the local oral medicine or oral-maxillo-facial for biopsy/opinion if needed.
I agree with the others - make an appointment with your dentist, I've always found that they are very conscious of changes in your mouth.. I've always found mine very good and if it is something hey aren't sure about they will possibly refer you to your local hospital.
Have you had your Vit B12 tested?
leros, burning tongue is some sort of vitamin deficiency. Can't remember which, maybe B12 as suggested. Zinc deficiency as well.
Can also be a reflection of a GI problem. People with diverticulosis, gastro-esophageal reflux, IBS, problems with liver, gall bladder, pancreas etc. have manifestations on the tongue: it is after the all the beginning of the 'tube' that ends at the bum. What affects one part affects all the parts.
Dry mouth can also cause problems as you describe. Often from medications that cause a decrease in saliva production.
Have your doctor check you for pernicious anemia. I think it affects the tongue. There is also a burning tongue syndrome you could look into.
Hi, I had something similar. My dentist told me to get my iron & b12 tested & he was spot on. If only my Dr was so on the ball! Taking iron has definitely helped but still not sorted the b12 situation. Definitely go to your dentist! Hope it clears up soon.
My mums tongue was red with smooth patches. The nurse said lack of B vits , not just b12. We got her a good multii b supplement and it has cleared up
