Hi. I am new to the site and have seen that selenium and zinc are important for t3 conversion.

I have noticed from the link to vitamins and minerals that 20mg of zinc seems to include copper. Is this an acceptable combination for me to take. Thanks in advance

Hello mama_K. The connection between zinc and copper is that zinc depletes copper so if you supplement with zinc you may become copper-deficient. Lack of copper can also occur in Crohns, coeliac disease etc. My reference book, "The Essential Guide to Vitamins, Minerals and Herbal Supplements" by Dr Sarah Brewer recommends that the ideal ratio of copper to zinc is 1:10

Mama_K, it's also advised to take magnesium with zinc to keep the minerals balanced. Mag oxide is hard to absorb, citrate and chloride are better absorbed.

2 Brazil nuts daily contain the requisite selenium if you're fed up swallowing tablets :)

Thanks for your replies. I am due my yearly blood test in 2 months time but feeling just like i did before i was diagnosed despite being on 100mg levo per day. Maybe i will wait until i get my next bloods before supplementing.
