Weight loss and hypothyroidism
Get a book called: is your thyroid making you fat? it is pretty good at explaining the whole mechanism of how to lose weight when hypo, it is written by an american doc.
Also the thyroid UK website is good for foods to avoid.
Go gluten free, try 5:2, try paleo. Not all at once. I'd try gluten free first at let you body adjust before trying anything else. Good luck.
Mercola.com ran an article this week talking about the benefits of fasting. I have also read other articles. Basically have your last meal in the evening - as early as possible - and then do not eat anything until the next day. Giving yourself a fast of around 18 hours. So breakfast is no longer the must have meal - as it can make you more hungry during the morning. Must say I have always enjoyed breakfast - so tried going without yesterday - and all was well. Surprise - surprise - I was not hungry and had a late lunch.
I too am looking for weight loss. Just be careful not to restrict your intake too much - otherwise your thyroid will think you have gone into hibernation and will slow down even more. It is a primeval mechanism in the body to protect you during food shortages - when we lived in the cave
Don't forget the good fats too.....
Good luck....
Hi I have just done 6 days of 5-2 dieting and I have lost three pounds so will definitely carry on only 3 stones to go and that's on 100mcg T3 daily.
How are things ? I replied to you 6 years ago but didn't have a reply. Hope you are OK ..
