Weight loss and exercise

There was a great post on here recently (not sure by whom) that went into great detail about the best way to lose weight/exercise. Can anyone point me in the right direction please as I MUST do something!!

Also do we still have an A-Z of "tags" now?

I don't know if we still have an A-Z of tags. If we do, I can't find it!

For me, the best way to lose weight is to not diet every day. Chronic dieting, even sensibly, or extreme dieting can cause the levels of thyroid hormones to change. It's not exactly 'starvation mode' but it can reduce your metabolism. You can stop this happening and 'reset' your body by having a day off each week, where you eat normally, 3 consecutive days every fortnight, or a week off every 3 to 4 weeks.

I think this might be why several members on here are having so much success with the 5:2 diet, an intermittent fasting diet. Others like the paleo diet and some combine the two.

Hopefully someone will be able to find the post you mean :)

Thanks Carolyn. I am going to give the 5:2 diet a whirl adding a bit of a GL diet twist! I'm also going to try and do 10,000 steps a day and include a bit of dumbbell work and hope for the best :-) x

I loved Slimming World. It wasn't like a diet, just eating the right things :)

I joined SW in January and was putting on more than I was losing so gave up. It definitely works because all my friends lost weight...just didn't work for me :-(

That's brilliant! I just worry when some people don't seem to be able to lose weight no matter what they do. I hope I'm one of the lucky ones like you :-)

Just know it took over a year to lose that amount of weight and its not easy also i am on the right dose of levothyroxine i only know that because i dont really have any symptoms of hypothyroidism anymore without that i wouldnt have been able to lose it but i suppose if you have the determination to lose weight you must be feeling pretty good. Good luck with the weight loss!
