Has anyone tried Chaga for IBS? I noticed that a number of people with Hypo are also posting that they have symptoms of IBS.

My cousin and I both have IBS, (I think she is undiagnosed hypo, but that is another story) and her holistic Dr. is having her take Chaga tea. She says that it is really helping. I read that it works as an anti-inflammatory. Has anyone with Hashi's or Hypothyroid tried this? I am worried that it will interfere with my thyroid treatment, but I can't find anyone who was hypo and tried it.

Thanks Astro,

I am hoping when we get my thyroid meds at the right levels the "IBS" will either go away or I will know it is not connected.

How are your VitD levels ? Have you had your Iron - Folate - B12 - Ferritin levels checked as well ? All need to be high in their ranges for you to have optimal health.

VitD is as you may know is a steroidal pre-hormone and is also anti-inflammatory. Every cell in the body has a receptor for VitD as well as thyroid hormone. I have Crohns and VitD is supporting it well.

Gluten ? I have read that low Iron can impact gut health.

Thanks Marz-I have had all of those checked and have been treated for ferritin, b12 and vitamin D deficiency over the last year. My Dr says they are all good now. I am also gluten and dairy free.

Sorry - only just found this as your reply did not come to me :-( Do you have the results that your Doc says are good ? Maybe they are not good enough.

I read you have a poorly daughter on another thread - how is she now

I can honestly say whatever is bugging both of us must be genetic. She has all the same issues that I have, just not as severe yet. I am still increasing my dosage with the thyroid meds and am not at optimal yet. The results for the D3, ferrin, and B12 are now at the top of the scale. She has me on D3 5,000 daily in the summer and 10,000 daily in the winter. Same for my daughter.
