10mcg of t3. I feel slightly better but still suffering. Vits and mins good. What are my options regarding t4 and t3? I could try 87.5mcg or 100mcg of t4 with 5mcg of t3 or 50mcg of t4 with 20mcg of t3. What do you think?

Do you have any recent thyroid tests you can post with lab ref ranges? Your symptoms suggest under medication so you could add another 10mcg T3 to the 75mcg T4 + 10mcg T3. Split the 20mcg T3 into 2 doses and take 10mcg with T4 and the second dose 6/8 hours later. You might have to play around with the timing of the second dose until you hit on the right time.

Thanks for your reply Clutter. Am I best to post a whole new post and include test results with ranges to get as many opinions as possible?

Yep, That's the way to go :-D

If you were on t4 only and had high t4 and t3, you probably didn't need to add t3 and might have felt better had you just lowered the t4 dose. Usually people take t3 because they don't convert well, but you didn't seem to have that issue. Labs posted would give people a better idea of what might be going on.

If you are a poor converter of T4 to T3 it won't show up in blood tests. Apart from feeling unwell, I only knew I had a problem when I got the results of a private 24hr T3 urine test. I followed this up with the D102 gene test (available via Thyroid Uk), which confirmed that I have 2 duff genes which mean that I'm not great at converting T4 to T3. LIke Clutter said, you have to play around with the dose. I started with a low dose of T3 5mcg and noticed I felt slighlty better with 10mcg. I am now on 20mcg T3 and 100mcg of T4 - although my GP originally suggested that I take 75mcg of T4 with 20mcg T3. I feel like I could take more T3, but if I do this I will lower T4 dose to 75mcg.

Yes My End has just requested this she has raised my T3 from 20mcgs to 30mcgs, and asked me to lower my T4 from 100mcgs to 50mcgs. It would appear that some people say not to lower and some say to lower to enable to up more T3, not forgetting that t3 is stronger. Not there yet (after 20 years) but I am not giving up.

The problem is that everyone's metabolism is different - what works for one, won't work for another. It can get very discouraging at times, but at least you can now try the new dose and see if you notice any improvements. Good luck!
