I wouldn't recommend taking calcium supplements without having a blood test first. Too much calcium can leach into the blood which can be dangerous.

It is a good idea for hypothyroid patients to have their ferritin (iron), vitamin D, B12 and folate tested as they are often deficient or low. If you are dark skinned you are more likely to have low vitamin D as it will be harder for you to absorb sunlight through your skin for conversion to vitamin D. Make sure to obtain printouts of your results with lab ref ranges. Hypothyroid patients do better when their levels are high iin range.
