They are both below range, so I would say you are VERY hypothyroid. How do you feel?

If your TSH is up, and your t3&4 are down, you are HYPOthyroid

These numbers suggest hypothyroidism, although everyone is different and you may not be as hypo on this level as most other people would be. High TSH also indicates hypothyrodism. If you are getting conflicting symptoms it could be due to you swinging from hypo to hyper to hypo etc. or it could be due to other causes such as the menopause.

Hypo/hyper & the menopause - can you explain how the perimenoause may affect a Hypo patient? Thanks.

I think it's the swinging back and forth, can't take much more of it tbh. My neck and jaw line has felt bruised and I think I have lymph draining problems. My lymph system has been very active with raised Lymphocytes in my WBC count for over a year now. Back to the GP this morning. Gonna ask for a referral back to my Endo and also referral to ENT consultant as I need to get my health back.

Oh dear! You are so low! I am sorry. My t4 was 10 at its lowest and I couldn't move. By the look of your lab test results you are very hypothyroid.

What symptoms of 'hyper'do you experience ?

Haven't you had a TSH test too?

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone - what your pituitary gland produces to tell your thyroid gland to make more thyroxin.

When I was diagnosed with HYPO in the UK I had to have lowered TSH below the 12-23 range and l had to have raised T4 above the 0.2-4.2 range. So e.g. with a TSH of say 9 AND a T4 of say 5 I could be classed as HYPO thyroid (underactive) in the UK. My pituitary gland was in overdrive trying to get my lazy thyroid gland to give me some thyroxin!

Yes I did have TSH too it was 25 (0.34-5.60) I was told today by the Doctor that in January I should of never been told to decrease my medication and that she would of got me to increase. I think down to there stupidity, is why I've totally crashed and hence TSH of 25. I've had Hasimoto's for 4 years now and back on 100mcg. She sayd I probably need to increase further but will retest in 6 weeks. Also referred for ultra sound and Endo today. Don't think they know what there doing to be honest!!

OMG! The Gp you saw who told you to decrease your meds, he could have ended up killing you if you had gone along with his instructions! Do you know what the outcome will be ie negligence. Was he a trainee GP? I feel real concern about this GPs ability to practice safely ie the oath- do no harm. I truly hope that you will get top dollar care from now on and get well very soon. Lynne x

Hi Lynne,

Not a trainee Doctor at all! I'm really struggling at the moment. The Female GP I last saw, wants me to have a Thyroid scan. I'm not sure if it's and Ultrasound or a Thyroid Scintigraphy Test, I've had an ultrasound before, have you ever had a Thyroid Scintigraphy test?

Hi angel. Never had a thyroid scan. Was diagnosed with Graves through blood tests only. Guidelines for investigations change fro one part of the country to the other. All soooo confusing. I wonder why these can't just be the same everywhere!!! Lynne x
