b12d.org/b12-signs-symptoms...

Here is a quiz to assess the deficiency of B12, which is a subject which arose today at our Chorley meetup. It was lovely to have a coffee and to be able to chat about all things thyroid, so I hope there may be others in the north west who might be able to come and join us next time !

Thanks that is very interesting!!! I got a score of 58 which combined with my low B12 reading on my latest blood test (I think it was 46 but don't have the results to hand) would explain why I have been feeling so rubbish and why when I started supplementing B12 last week I've started feeling better!!! Dr didn't even want to test for B12!!!

Hi

Are you sure your result is 46 as that is really low,

do you have the range ?

in reply to lucylocks

No I was wrong 46 was my ferritin!! My B12 was 258 (161-531)

Oh that's better for B12 but needs to be higher.

46 for ferritin is low it needs to be higher as low ferritin can also make you feel bad and stop your thyroid meds. working properly. Some members say it should be around 80 others say middle of the range.

Thanks Browny - not on any Thyroid meds and blood results keep coming back normal. Any recommendations on supplementing to get my ferritin up?

I take Spatone which is gentle on your stomach, you can get it from the chemist, I mix it with a glass of fruit juice and add some powdered Vit C as this aids absorption. Always take with food and if you do start thyroid meds. take 4 hours away from it.

There are lots of other iron tablets, if you type iron supplements in search bar, top right hand corner, it should come up with more info.

why not post your thyroid results then members can advise.
