Wow, even without ranges it looks like you must feel awful. Will you be on meds soon?

You should now be on medication, I hope. Always get copies of your blood tests, with the ranges, for your own records. Also ask for Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate to be checked. You will have blood tests about every six weeks until you reach an optimum level when you feel well then a blood test around every year unless clinical symptoms return.

On the morning of the blood tests, do not take medication beforehand, take it afterwards. Take your meds before breakfast with one glass of water and wait 1/2 to 1 hour before eating.

Did you have to stop your meds or have you never been on them - a little bit more info would be helpful.

I was taken off medication for 4 weeks by consultant to get an accurate reading of what is going on. It was done to check for pituitary problem

I hope he has his answer now and you're back on them.

Yes, crikey, I hope it was worth it. You don't often see these kinds of results in people who have never been on meds.

Bennion, It shouldn't take more than 2/3 weeks to get your TSH down once you resume meds. My TSH was 107.5 early Dec and back down to 0.16 after 4 weeks on 100mcg.

Shed skin like a snake for a couple of months and it's still very dry now but otherwise I'm in better nick than for a very long time.

Will be interesting to find out though, but I hope for your sake it isn't a pituitary problem, although saying that I have read that they can be fixed.

Glad to see you can still laugh about things - even though with a TSH of over 50 you must be feeling awful.

Please let us know what your results were wont you.

Felt pretty rubbish up and down over the past 6 years at the higher end off the t4/t3 scale with a supressed tsh. I think you just get used to feeling rubbish to be honest X

Not right though is it - you shouldn't be living your life like this and hopefully your answers are not far away.

Is your endo a good one - must say I have never heard of an endo asking someone to stop their meds to check for a pituitary problem - brave of him and you for doing it.

Bennion, what made them suspect pituitary problems?

bennion666568 profile image
bennion666568 in reply to Clutter

Low oestrogen at present & growth hormone problems when younger that were never resolved a few other niggles combined with just not getting better. Stripped back to basics I think to see if there is underlying problem to try and resolve once and for all hopefully . x

Clutter profile image
Clutter in reply to bennion666568

Thank you. I hope it solves the niggles. Please ask for T3 when your T4 meds resume. You'll struggle to get FT3 into the top 75% of range otherwise and it'll speed the TSH downward journey.

bennion666568 profile image
bennion666568 in reply to Clutter

Yes the consultant has already suggested adding some extra t3 along side the armour if the 2.5 grains doesn't quite go the trick. x

Hope you recover faster than I did when I got taken off m eds for them to see how much thyroid function I had. TSH 138 T3 & 4 both 0, and Ive never managed to get back to feeling well again since they interfered (they being doctors that thought they knew better than me)

Received a call from the consultants secretary today to start medication immediately as planned which I already have done and to increase dose by 30mg every five days untill up to 2.5 . To drop back if there are any palpitations . No diagnosis given yet I am sure I will get the answer in due course there are a few results and tests not back yet . X

I won't as I know the Information may help someone else. Last test that I know of will be the one for Coeliac that is at the end of April. The blood tests showed antibodies I hv to eat plenty of gluten/wheat now for next few weeks and hv a biopsy . The synachten test was done on Friday so I expect they will be back soon X

She really is covering all angles isn't she - my endo did the same with the SS test and my gastro did the "ultimate camera experience" on me (one up, one down.lol). Although my blood cortisol came back low the SS test was negative but I don't think it is a very good test as even the guy who invented it now says it is flawed.

You sound like me last year - I had a whole year or tests, one after the other (thought at one point it might be better to move my bed in.lol.), but it was worth it in the end as I now feel 100% better than I did before my endo got involved, I hope you get the same result. I think a good endo will work on the process of elimination, ticking off each test and result as they come in.

Good luck with all of those.
