Why was a post that appeared to be critical of this sight deleted before anyone could read it properly?

Posters can delete their posts/questions and replies.

I think there may be a glitch tho', another posters posts disappeared from a thread and s/he said that incomplete posts were also published.

Clutter is right, people can delete their own posts, if their post was the main 'thread' and they delete it then the whole thread will 'go' including all the other people's answers in it.

Sometimes Admin delete a thread or a reply if the content infringes one of the guidelines or is thought to be disrespectful towards others or a 'spam' type of message.

I personally do not know which post you are referring to here in this thread so cannot comment specifically on this one as to why it is 'gone' (has been deleted) and by who, sorry.

It is certainly true that admins can delete posts/questions/replies. But this is neither frequent nor without reason - though that reason is not always immediately obvious. We have a protocol for handling these situations which is painful for us to go through - so we do it only when we really believe we have to.

There is a mechanism that Health Unlocked have implemented which attempts to prevent abuse (such as spam). That, at least in its early form, deleted posts seconds after they were made - but allowed alert emails to be sent for them! In those cases many people wondered where the posts had gone.

I saw the thread early this morning and replied by PM. There were two posts in it at that time so I guess it was deleted either by Admin or the main poster, because it would be rather strange for both posters to delete their posts.

Well last week I saw a post, typed out a reply, I sent it off got a message to say 'they were embarrassed but there was no message to reply to' I then spent ages looking to see what I had actually been trying to reply to and couldn't find what I had seen.

The post I am talking about went up then was removed very quickly, the poster and I have spoken since, she took it down very shortly after she posted it but I had seen it in that time and started to reply, she took it down because she was worried that people might judge her.

There isn't really a problem with deleting your message or even your response to a message, I have done that myself but the one last week happened so quickly between it being posted and me reading it and replying that I began to wonder if I had actually imagined I had seen it, I couldn't remember who had posted it and eventually I began to feel I was losing my marbles.

Eventually I figured out who had sent it from another post that went up later on.

That was what I thought when I couldn't post my reply. I kept searching through all the posts, then all the questions thinking I was sure I had seen what I was trying to reply to. Eventually the poster wrote about something else and I asked if she had posted something then taken it down again and as the answer was yes I realised I wasn't losing the plot, whew! :-)
