Had a TT on the 11th March and have been prescribed 20 mcg liothyronine sodium twice a day. Does this seem reasonable?

I feel very fuzzy hard to concentrate but not sure how much is due to the anaesthetic and recent surgery. Any advice please.

It's quite early days after your TT and it's great you have been prescribed T3. I note you are taking 20mcg twice a day which equals to approx 200mcg of levo. It may take a little while for you to feel better after your op but you should have a blood test six weeks after starting.

I hope you feel better soon.

Many thanks for the reply. It is very reassuring to know I'm not alone. Trying to be sensible and take things one day at a time.

I think 40mcg is equivalent to 120mcg Levothyroxine. I was prescribed 3 x 20mcg daily for two months post-TT and prior to RAI. It probably depends on your TFT levels prior to surgery. I seem to recall spending most of my time asleep but I was also very depressed.

It can take quite a time for the GA to clear your system and major healing is going on after a major operation so you shouldn't expect to feel like much for a couple of weeks at least.

When you are retested ask for ferritin, vitD, B12 and folate to be tested too. If these are deficient or low in range you'll feel bleurgh until you supplement to high in range.

Hope you feel better soon.
