Saliva or urine test for adrenals? There seems some conflict on this matter. Thank you for your experience

I would vote for the four part saliva test - it makes more logical sense to me.

Hi My Endo and i) thin k the only reliable test is a 24 hour urine collection with a cortisone tablet, low dose at midnight, script, and a blood test 9am the following morning. It is available NHS but you may end up having to ask the gP to refer you for a private lab test, they can, shop around first if so.

I've only had the saliva test done (twice) and it reflected exactly how I was feeling at the time. It's easy to do at home too and tests DHEA as well.

I used Genova's test through Smartnutrition @ £75

I think you get a discount if you order through Thyroid UK instead.

Thank you angel2. I looked at these tests and it seems that anyone already on thyroid treatment were,t recommended to have the urine thyroid test. Is that what you found?

Hi Everdean, I am only on thyroid glandulars and my dr did not tell me to stop taking them before being retested, but I would imagine that if you are taking thyroid other thyroid med's which would be stronger you would have to stop before being tested? But best to double check with your dr, sorry I'm not more help! I hope you get some results soon x
