Hi Peggy, i'm having g a lot of success cutting out sugar as much as possible, and avoiding processed food. I've cut down on carbs too.

I am self medicating though using Westhroid and T3, this has made a huge difference to my weight.

I can vouch for this approach, I am sugar free and grain free, however NOTHING on earth helps me to lose weight if I am 'under'medicated. If I am medicated well then only sugar free/grain free will help me keep my weight down in check :)

Weight gain can be caused by not being on enough thyroid gland medication. as NBD states above.

Thank you for your reply's

I asked because I have seen so much about this pill on the web but could find reviews only on sites selling the product I wondered if it worked for thyroid problems

How can you convince a doctor you need more meds to loose weight when they tell you you are on the correct amount . One one hand your told when doses is right the weight will come off but when nothing happens you have to keep going on they same amount

Peggy have you requested a printout of your blood test results/ranges and posted them here? Someone might have a suggestion for what to say to the doctor.

I have asked for a copy of tests but my surgery says they don't give out printed copies

My doc tells me bloods are in balanced range and not to worry about them as long as he sees no problems

Well go back and tell them that it is your right to see your own results! And if they won't print them, make them read them all out, one by one, so you can write them down. That should teach them! If they refuse, write to the practice manager. They cannot refuse you access to your results.

How do you feel, apart from being unable to lose weight? Have you ever had your T3 tested? I would say that you don't need any more T4 but you might not be converting the t4 to the active hormone T3.

Thank you for your reply but I have no idea what you mean

What is t4 and how would I get this tested

I am well enough but as I said my doctor says all is correct and at my age 73 I should not worry about a few extra lbs but at 5ft and 10.5 stones I know I have too much weight to be a good thing
