Just phoned my local surgery to see if they will give me a sample and they have referred my question to the GP. Whats a bet he refuses such a request because they asked me why I want it and I said I want to test me RT3. This is like chasing my tail.
Getting a blood sample is another problem! - Thyroid UK
Getting a blood sample is another problem!
I wonder if they will know what RT3 is and the lab may not do it.
I'm going through Genova but need my own lab to draw the bloods. This seems to be problematic for them, they have to check with my GP.
I thought that Paul from Blue Horizon was suggesting that it might be possible to test rT3 with a simple finger-prick blood sample.
If I were you I would send him a private message or ring or even email them.

No idea about other vendors of medical tests.

Hi If having other blood done by the surgery, then ask about an extra sample. mine will do this, with the correct phial etc from Blue Horizon. other wise, there finger prick tests, are not exactly that as they use a mini phial of blood , so the same result, £10 dearer, i think.
I do this as now my NHS Lab refuse to do essential FT3, so GP understands.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Sallypg, I bet the surgery will do it as long as you pay a fee. My surgery agreed but it cost £15.
I'm still waiting for them to respond! They have referred it to my GP... and they wanted to know what test I was after!
