Need to take a finger prick blood sample, the instructions don't say the time of day to take it, or if Ineed to not eat for a period of time before taking, I'm not on meds so that's not an issue.
So does it matter, as I have read on here morning is best and without food?

Hi jegg best time is early as possible before before food and medication. Drink lots of water beforehand and keep warm to encourage blood flow.
Weekday morning are best so you can make sure it gets straight in the post and to the lab as fresh as possible as I don't think they do testing over the weekend.
Test I use says to fast 12 hours and take the test 30 minutes after waking up.
Not sure whose test it is but same rules apply as eating or taking the test too late ruins the result. Taking blood from elsewhere does not change the rules.
I set up the alarm to 7.30 so I do the test around 8.
I always do mine as early as I can. My alarm goes off at 06.00 so I do it then. I have a drink of water first and wash my hands in warm water then dry them carefully before I do it.
And wave your hands around like windmill too first! Gets blood moving. Er not so much when have done one prick as blood flies lol....spot the lessons I've learned.
