I have been diagnosed with overactive parathyroid - been on here before but seem to have lost any info on people with parathyroid problems
Parathyroid problems - is there another site on... - Thyroid UK
Parathyroid problems - is there another site on here just for this???

Just search for parathyroid and come up with all these old questions, which may help.

I usually post this link:
It is a USA site and it is pushing their expertise in handling parathyroid issues/surgery. But it is still one of the most comprehensive yet readable sites on the subject.

Hi Have you had the correct bloods done,? AM only must be PTH, calcium and Vit. D If first 2 over range and D high for you then a nuclear scan and CT of the parathyroid +an ultrasound of the thyroid. if a tumor then found on PTH. , it is usually very curable and fairly common. The surgery, very successful. The biggest danger with PTH is very high calcium level, over 3 ( corrected calcium) always needs an IV in hospital but still, very risky. PTH can cause lots of problems, so sooner treated the better.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Yes think so - calcium only high (slightly elevated) have been referred to surgery but having 2 scans first which are next week!! Will try and push to see surgeon soon after though as he has booked end May which is 3 months away!!
