Has anyone else got Gilbert's Syndrome as well as a Thyroid problem?

I have just found a FB Gilbert's syndrome site, and a lot of people on there are complaining about joint and muscle pain, eye pain, insomnia, extreme fatigue etc etc the list of symptoms go on and on. They all sound like thyroid problems to me! Just wondering if Gilbert's and thyroid are commonly found together? Thanks

I think you could be right about the Syndrome - just that - a syndrome. Am not familiar with the condition - just hope docs do not diagnose people too quickly without going into the difficulties of THOROUGH thyroid testing. Liver metabolism is lowered with Hypothyroidism and that is why cholesterol levels increase with some cases of Hypothyroidism.

There are other sites where Thyroid screams at you too - but sadly with the continuing poor testing of just the TSH - many stay undiagnosed and suffering....

Hi If you look most things up, they do often sound like you have everything! All their body is connected, of course. usually, it is best to only look things up if fairly sure you have them, it would drive most people mad, otherwise.

I am in a peculiar position because I am so ill, all my brilliant consultants expect me to diagnose myself and think it hilarious that I am always right!! I do not. However, I always diagnose what I have and then look it up to confirm my diagnosis, then tell the correct consultant, who does the tests etc. This is only suitable if to you, it is a matter of scientific interest.,not worry. Why the WEB is unpopular amongst most docs. The best ones look up the Mayo Clinic, USA, if want more info themselves

Best wishes,

Jackie.

Me! I have. Just got high reading bilirubin and B12 blood results too. Not sure what that means? Dr didn't make any links (results from many other tests).

Yes, I was diagnosed with Gilberts syndrome, shortly after finding out I was myxodaemic back in 1998, one of the blood tests done at the same time flagged up a liver query, and had a scan at the hospital and had the diagnosis, understand your liver deals with the bilrubin in a different manner to normal, but can't say I have noticed any particular symptoms, although my cholesterol reading is 6.5 and Drs always want to put me on a statin, but have refused due to having suffered various leg complaints in recent years, shin splints and tendinitis, which are pain in the legs enough!! without taking something that has leg pain as one of the side effects!!
