Glasgow endos

Can anyone recommend a good endo in Glasgow. I've been diagnosed 3 years and still haven't seen one. Both GPs said no point they won't do anything different to them. I'm in the north of Glasgow and think I'll insist if there are any good endos as I feel quite unwell.

Hi Sandrad , I'm in Glasgow as well and not been well for 10 yrs , been to see nearly every endo and they are all the same basically , they have been to me anyway , I was finally getting back on my feet with the addition of T3 with my Levo but my gp retired and the new doc stopped this and now I'm back to square one , we were going to start a supper group in Glasgow mind but I haven't been feeling myself either , I've been trying ither meds , we will need to set one up now Xmas and that out the way so we can discuss docs / experiences and meds , Elaine x

Thanks Elaine x I heard there is a new young female endo at the Southern but no name. Reputedly she listens to the patients. Even if I get a name I'm not sure if I could be referred postcode wise as I'm in G61.

I have a couple of Scottish Endos on our list - not sure which city though - drop me an email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org

Office closed till 6th Jan...

Hi Sandrad, I was surprised to see that I am not the only one who has never been referred to an Endo. Although I am just on the English side of the border, my GP is Scottish but since being diagnosed with Graves back in July, has never once suggested I go and see an Endo. Perhaps it is a Scottish thing. Are you hypo or hyper?

Hi, I'm diagnosed hypo and currently feel hyper when I take my meds but bloods say I'm seriously Hypo - doctor phoned the house to say start increasing dose immediately as TSH 10.39. FT4 7.1. I think my mum was undiagnosed hypo and my grandad might have had Graves.

It really does sound like you need the input of an Endo. I feel quite well since taking the carbimazole, though I lowered the dose as I felt it was making me hypo. I have no idea why I developed graves though as I do not know a soul in my family who has had thyroid issues, so I don't know what went wrong with me.

Both my mum and grandad were undiagnosed but treated for a myriad of symptoms, which all match thyroid. Pity their GP never put the jigsaw together.
