Tanya, that is fantastic. I don't know if this is unusual and you are one of the fortunate ones but I hope it lasts. I know that T3 helps heal the adrenals and also reduces reverse T3 so wonder if that is the case with you and that you may no longer need the dose you are taking. If later you have to make adjustments down or up, please let us know. You are a wonderful guinae pig in a way. Thank you.
Hi I am pleased you have found a treatment you are happy with. However, that is a high dose to start on. In any case, may I suggest, to keep yourself safe , you have lots of blood tests for tSH, T4 and Free T3. The only way that you can be certain . To loose that amount of weight, so fast, worries me. It usually takes a while. When I was overdosed by a private doc, I was told to just go by how I felt. I still felt hypo but had become hyper. Only when I was very ill and then had blood tests, did I know. Mine was prescribed, armour, in my case as no T3 then.
Hi Tanya, T3 has also changed my life, I feel normal again after struggling for seventeen years,it's all thanks to the advise of thyroid uk and their wonderful members.x
I have a similar recovery experience to you but all via GP who was open minded. Have you read Paul Robinson's book 'Recovering on T3'? It gives excellent guidance on getting the right levels and the timing on taking tablets. Both are vital to longer term health. What is your current regimen for taking the T3 (times and doses)?
I forgot to mention that I have stopped taking the Levo completely, I have found that by taking 50mcg of T3 at 5am then 25mcg at 4pm had worked for me.
However I don't advise that anyone should use T3 without consulting their doctor first.
well tone tanya40. I have been on T3 only since May 2012, it is the only medication which works well for me, even NDT was not right (probably because my body just does not 'like' the T4 in it). It's just nice when you finally find the one for you
I'm in for seeing a 'good' endo in Bristol before the years end.
I love to read of stories of T3 being successful as I hated Levo, made me rubbish in many ways and never had a chance to get a full dose, thankfully.
Maybe my probs are adrenal related [this slipped out in my last appt.- never been mentioned before] but if like 'Wilsons Temp. Syndrome'- low level multiple T3 doses [short term] are supposed to work- so who knows...Maybe I will get a hearing & get lucky yet?
