Why have I started feeling exhausted again? After a rather good month ? T4 needs to be higher, how do I do that without creating this overheating? And sweating? I am now between 50mcg and 75 mcg working it slowly up. Taking all the supplements . It's easy to get depressed. If I saw my doctor today is would look like an unhappy worn out person. Keeping a steady weight has Also become a big issue this month. Any advice overall?

Hi As you appreciate they ar quite different ranges to what we have in the UK. However, as you have the ranges, should not be too difficult to fathom, I hope! You FT3 is a little low and your T4, However you need to wait until you have been on the full dose for 6 weeks, then have another retest. Thyroid disease is treated very slowly as they are powerful meds, this is a safety issue. It often takes a year or so. Retest every 6 weeks and alteration in meds until feel OK, hopefully the bloods will look right too Weight also

Have you had all the other tests which effect the thyroid? vit D ( hormonal) if low corrected calcium before treatment, script, retest 3-4 months., for both Iron/ferritin, needs to be well in range, two that are also hormonal and autoimmune, Diabetes, type 2, and B12 with Foliates, needs to be high in range.

I hope this helps.

Thanks I have been ill 15 years and have had better and worse times. Recently on lower doses I felt quite well however it didn't last long. As you know hashimotos can go up and down however I always hope that someone out there may have something to add that hasn't been thought of. I see my tests are low to feel 100% well. The docs however are horrified at such low TSH . Thanks again

Hi We tend to not worry too much about the low TSH, although quite a few doctors do.. I have serious cardiac problems, where in particular, higher TSH is liked. However, mine has been unmeasurable always, although mine is not pituitary gland, 24 hour urine test will show that. However, my cardiologist are happy for me to have just enough T4 and T3 to keep my levels right for me. If you are like this, I would suggest lots of frequent blood tests for thyroid , certainly for a while. I have autoimmune thyroid, hypo , probably Hashimotos, but never really been identified. the other things, apart from the tests I have said, it is important t watch out for other autoimmune disease, I have 12, as one of my specialists says,"They like to hang around together", so true!

Best wishes,

Jackie
