If my T3 reading comes back at 4 with top of the range being 6.8 and TSH over 8, what level should I be looking for my T3 to be at in the range? Should it be near the top ie as close to 6.8 as possible?

T3 levels - top of the range?
The most important thing to consider is whether or not you still have symptoms. If you still have symptoms your thyroid replacement is not optimised. You may need an increase in your thyroid replacement, a change of thyroid replacement or the addition of other endocrine supplements or vitamins and minerals, or you may have something else that is interfering with your thyroid function. If you have all three of your results, this matrix shows the relationship to each other and what it means.
The link doesn't find the page - even registered and logged in to Dr Rind's site ?
Sorry, cut and paste isn't working either I see. And I'm sure you can't make heads nor tails of what I pasted above.
If you could Google Dr. Bruce Rind's Matrix, maybe it will come up.
He really explains how the different levels reveal possible estrogen dominance or adrenal failure. Very informative.
Is this it?

Yes, that's it. Do you know your FT3 number? Most people who post results seem to have their FT3 somewhere between 4.5 and 4.8 which I don't think is high enough.
Sorry it wasn't me that was asking - I was just curious to know what the table was. They don't test FT3 where I live, only Total T3 if/when TSH is low. The matrix doesn't actually say whether it's Free or Total T3. It also appears to only be relevant when not taking any thyroid meds - it says "taking thyroid hormone replacement or some herbal or iodine supplementation may change the interpretation of the matrix" Only the last row refers to taking meds and only meds containing T3.
My FT3 is 4 (range 2 to 6.8), FT4 is 5.4 (below range but thats okay because I only take T3), TSH is 8.8 (range 0.5 to 4.5)
On T3 only thyroid hormone blood tests do not tell you if you are well medicated or not, they don't really tell you anything apart from what T3 is 'floating' in your blood (and it does not do any work in the blood )
PS My fT3 is over the range, my bone density has improved by the way and my endo was quite 'opened eyes' by it
Hi I need my T3 to be just under the top of range, high, I am on that and armour mainly because of my low FT3. I have a good Endo, I suspect you might have a job persuading a GP that you need it like that. It lowers the TSH, but in my case I just do not feel my thyroid is Ok. Many years experience with hypo. However, for safety my Endo and I consider essential to have a FT3 test with the others, every 2 to 10 weeks depending on other things. NHS here can no longer do it, so have to pay.
I hope that helps.
