Depression is a clinical symptom of hypothyroidism but I don't wonder you are feeling exhausted/depressed with such a high TSH.

If you can get a copy of your blood test results, with the ranges (as labs differ) and post on a new question it will enable us to comment.

How long since you were diagnosed? I note you have been raised to 150mcg of levo and so you should have with a TSH of 8.9. Has your GP not taken frequent blood tests and raised meds until your TSH is much lower?

I was diagnosed about 5 years ago, 2 years ago they upped tabs to 125 as tsh had crept up to 4 and that particular gp wanted it below 2, had last blood test about 18 months ago and it was 2.

Hi,

Although I am new to thyroid problems ( diagnosed in May this year ), my first reaction to your post, was the same as Shaws and that is that the TSH is too high. No wonder you are feeling so ill. Secondly, as I understand, you should be having a blood test every 12 months. 18 months is too long. Thirdly, have you been tested for antibodies? If not, please ask.

I hope you get the right treatment soon and that you feel better quickly.

Jan.

Hi I would ask for a print out of your results with ranges. Also make sure you have TSH, T4 and Free T3 done, it sounds as if you are very under medicated.May be you need T4 and T3, only all the blood tests will tell you that. Diabetes, are you doing your blood sugar at home, 2 hours after a meal then only water, Also immediately before eating, first thing am and last thing pm. This way you will see exactly what is happening. fruit and all juice causes rises because of all the natural sugar. I would also try and find a good general Endo and ask for a referral. Find your own first. There are a lot of courses run by NHS by specialist nurses to help with the diabetes. Foot check important, eyes annually too.. The American site is the best for food. Your GP, if asked, should also send you to a dietician, although I did not find helpful, you might.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Ive been type 1 diabetic for 26 years..was diagnosed with hashi in aug last year.its taken nearly a year to balance diabetes as thyroxine has resulted in me having to increase my insulin. You will get your sugars in order once your thyroid is settled.

I havent been tested for antibodies or t3, i will ask in 2 months when i have next blood test. Thanks Jackie for the advice. Vgam...i was diagnosed with diabetes a couple of months before they diagnosed the hypothyroidism. Going to see docs on friday to discuss going on injections as sugars are running constantly in late teens/ 20s. Anyone any idea why the thyroid after being stable with tabs just shoots up? Thank you everybody, glad i found this site. Xx

Hi vgam, I was only diagnosed with diabetes a couple of months before hypothyroidism. Sugars are worse the past few months tho but I put it down to giving up smoking 3 months ago and been oveing due to that, but I do think they are higher than they would be. Xx
