I have these as my main symptoms after the fatigue!
Does anyone get extreme sweating, itching all o... - Thyroid UK
Does anyone get extreme sweating, itching all over, thirst and hunger with Hyper ?
Hi You need to have TSH, T4 , Free T3 and antibodies done for the thyroid. Be sure to have a print out always with blood results and ranges ( differ).I would also make sure you have a Diabetes test, this is hormonal and autoimmune and symptoms you describe too.If it was me I would also ask for LFT`s ( liver) FBC ( blood count) and U`s and E`s ( kidney) ,common tests, Also have a copy and keep, remember often a docs OK, is not the same as you wish.

Thanks Jackie, I have realised she only tested for TSH not the other two. so going to ask tomorrow if she will. are they a bit more specialised tests? they aren't on the normal blood form I see. she tested for all the other things too and said all normal... but im gonna ask for the printout. I have diabetes in the family as well as over active thyroid. x
Hi
I was hyper now in remission.
I suffered with sweating and itching especially at night in my legs and I drank at night and yes extreme hunger all the time. I no longer suffer with any. All perfectly normal at his point if you are hyper. What meds are you on if any?
BTW I was also checked for diabetes and did not have it.
Hi I took carbimazole for about 2 years. I had bouts of being hyper ( without knowing it was that) for about 3 years before being diagnosed in 2011. I came off the carb in July this year when I stabilised.
They sound like classic hyper problems to me. Have you had any tests done?
So it took them a while to diagnose you as well? Ive had my TSH and the other usual bloods done and they all came back "within normal range" but then again, if you say the range is 0.3-3 then im quite high as the TSH was 2.9. So, after finding this site, I saw a different GP and asked if she ould test my T3 and T4 and B12 and Antibodies, which she is doing.. waiting on those results. Do you have a family history of it? I do, very much so. Ive got so many symptoms... glad you are better
My mum and sister are both hypothyroid or underactive so I assumed that I would be the same. My mums mum was also diagnosed hypo shortly before she died young.
Yes it took a few years before anyone took me seriously and they were surprised when the bloods came back. You really do need your T4 and T3 and B12 and antibodies doing too and a regular check up, regardless of the results you get now. Let us know how you get on.
Thanks, I haven't heard anything today? do the T4 and T3 and antibodies take a bit longer than the normal bloods and the TSH ?
Shouldnt really. Chase them up or they may not get back to you. I was always chasing things up. Be firm and stand your ground with the medical people.
Yes, I will do, rang today and they said all ok, but ive made another apt with my GP on Friday to discuss and get the exact results.
Good decision. let us know how the numbers are after you have seen them.
Hi, just to let you know, that I went back to my GP on Friday and even though all my Bloods were "In Range" including the TSH, T4 and T3 & Antibodies and the B12. She was really good and said "But, your T3 and T4 are borderline" (Hypo) - I can't remember no's but im getting a printout on Monday of it so will repost them.
She said as I have all the symptoms and strong family history she has started me on a low dose (25mcg) of LepoThyroxine to see if it helps! I feel so happy (that sounds crazy in know) i'm lucky she has listened to me though. So started them yesterday.
She said they take 6 weeks to work.... ?!
thanks for all your advice and persuading me to keep persisting with it x
