When your weight goes up, do you have other hypo symptoms? Just curious if the weight increases correlate with being undertreated or not.

You must get a print-out of your recent thyroid gland blood tests, complete with the ranges (figures in brackets) and post on a new question.

Many doctors believe it is o.k. to keep the TSH 'within range' but that's wrong.

If we are undermedicated we are liable to get other autoimmune diseases. They insist that levothyroxine is the only medication to be prescribed, despite many not getting completely well. The most common complaint is weight gain which is due to levothyroxine in not sufficient doses but it is inferred it is because we don't have a good diet. Research has proved that weight increase is common.

If your GP hasn't done a Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate, ask for these. The first two in particular are usually deficient.

Hi Diabetes, autoimmune and hormonal. Common with thyroid if autoimmune. Look at the diabetes Uk site and the USA equivalant. diet not what you expect. You should do your own BM at least 2 a day first thing and last thing. Do not drink any juice and little fruit only, little protein and lots of green veg. Sweet potato OK ordinary not so good.venous blood tests frequently until stable, then 6 monthly,do not fast, best blood test is Ab1Ac. My endo thinks the BM`s more important, mine is severe.Take great care of your feet, any cut needs disinfecting etc,. You can also of peripheral Neuralgia, not nice but good treatment for it. Eyes must have the diabetic check annually, lots of opticians do not do this. The GP can tell you about an expert patient prog for 6weeks. Not sure how it is as just did my own research and a brilliant Endo.Best food info is forward of A W.T. 2 books with diabetes recipes etc. Second hand on Amazon or library. There is also a very specific urine test you need, when diagnosed and annuallly. If you want further info, more specific, get back to me.Do not forget to click on reply to this under this post.

Best wishes,

Jackie

I have Type 2 also, and have been reading that Metformin for diabetes is good for a lot of things, losing weight, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, if you are given it it might be a good help with your weight, don't take medical advice on diet......avoid a lot of bread, and potatoes, and pasta, it just makes you feel tired, see what I mean by looking at diabetes uk web site

Not what you're looking for?
