Over the years my tsh has always been around 2 looking back at blood reports from 2009.
Does levothyroxine cause hairloss?: I was... - Thyroid UK
Does levothyroxine cause hairloss?
I started on levo in June. Now on 100mcg. My hair is shedding at an alarming rate.
Did you suffer before starting treatment?
Have you had vit D and iron checked out....this can cause hair loss
Ferritin levels in aug was 34. Am taking 210 mg of ferrous sulphate
Hi Normally if the TSH , T4 and FT3 are "right" then the hair improves, It can be a symptoms of hypo or hyper, so bloods important. My hair took years to recover, hypo
Best wishes,
Jackie
I had a similar problem. I was diagnosed in 2006 with a TSH of around 20 yet my T4 had almost somewhat been in the lower range.
My symptoms were fine just a little tiredness. But by 2009 to now my symptoms have got really bad. It was in 2011 I saw signs of massive hairloss untill my scalp was visible. I think it was the moment my thyroid became worse and also when i was upped on the levo. It was v likely the levo due to hormonal changes. it did kind of grow back but then falls and it is thin but thats all because im still hypo. I hear iron levels for us need to be more than 80 MINIMUM!
also get more tests done you may need t3 too!!
It was the opposite way round for me. My hair was clogging up the plu hole in the shower on a regular basis, but as I have been approaching my correct dosage of levo it has stopped.
In my case lack of it did. I went from hyper to hypo when I started block and replace for Graves. Once I got to my optimum level of levo it stopped falling out. Up until then it was coming out in handfuls every time I washed it and I was constantly finding it in my (and even worse - other people's ) food. Total nightmare. It made me really miserable because I couldn't see an end to it.
Hopefully once you are on the right dose things will get better.

I really do hope it improves...just feels like it never will
