Hello All. Just joined. I have a serious & very embarrassing question. Once I started taking levothyroxine I developed horrible BO, I had to stay inside my house until it left my system. Any ideas? Has this happened to any of you?

Does Levothyroxine cause BO?
Have you read the leaflet that comes with the drug? I just looked at it and it can cause excess sweating.
I get a weird smelling body odor when my thyroid is out of balance. At those times, my body odor smells like cumin (the spice). Strange but very true.
I guess i'd ask if your body odor has just increased or if the smell has changed significantly. If it's the latter...i'd be getting my levels checked.
Was it teva brand? Some people get gut problems because of the mannitol it contains - that could cause odour. Eating fenugreek seeds makes your sweat smell of maple syrup (which might be better), if that's any help
Great question and for me I used to get body odour when I was seriously under medicated. It was t so bad that I couldn’t go out but i certainly noticed it and my deodorant didn’t work anymore. It was sooooo annoying! I’d shower in the morning and evening but even after using scrub gloves in the shower I still had that lingering smell. So I used Bicarbonate and vinegar solution, making it into a bit of a paste I’d smear it on and leave for a few minutes then shower it off after. This made a huge difference. Now that I’m properly medicated I don’t get it.
And btw I never had sweat patches EVER! It seemed like I was just growing bacteria without ever breaking a sweat! 😩
