Has anyone else had a message from this scammer? Edysia has just been messaged by this evil idiot and is very shaken up. It's the usual inheritance (8.3 million) nonsense but the messages are delivered in a way that is creepy and wrong. I couldn't find a button to report them next to the personal messages. Can anyone help us to remove this sick freak from the forum so that they don't upset anyone else?

Wbowles, Perhaps you are unaware that thyroid hormone imbalance can play havoc with one's brain function. Something that a person might typically shrug off when in a 'non-thyroidally challenged' state, can trigger all sorts of apparently irrational behaviour. Check out the 'mental and emotional' symptoms listed for hypothyroidism on the main website to gain better understanding.

Well as I've been diagnosed hypothyroid since 2008, I think I'm kindof aware of the range of symptoms (not all necessarily connected to the thyroid but then how do you judge?)

There's nothing we can do to shame these people, and they can easily morph into another ID and continue to intrude. We just have to junk and ignore them. Unless Admin can block their IP, or, more likely, multiple IPs.

Admins don't have the ability to block IP addresses. We can (and do) 'get rid' of such members,but as you say, they can sign up again with different details.

I am surprised that a facility available to any individual (to block IP addresses) isn't available to a community such as this. Something to remedy?

Scammers and spammers don't tend to use static IP addresses, so blocking a particular IP address would achieve nothing as they will have moved on to another dynamic address.

Best way would to send an email out to all members to send you a message if they come across such activity.

Thanks for the though but unfortunately, admins don't have mass email facility! HU themselves could do this though, so we might approach them about it.

I don't think it is practical. So far, all we can identify is the username they posted under. I have not even seen the scamming message.

Agree completely with the sentiment that it should be reported, but think that the only people in a position to do anything remotely useful as regards reporting are HU themselves.

Thanks Pheobs, useful for people to know about for matters occurring outside of this forum.

However, as HU have very strict privacy rules, we have no access to any member's personal info. All we know is the member's user name. Hence there is effectively no-one to report.

Any member receiving any type of nuisance message via this forum needs to report it to admin or directly to HU who will take any necessary action.

I received one this morning, re cancer and stating I would be classed as next of kin. There was something regarding my sending details of bank account. Person supposedly had two weeks to live. I deleted the email. Even the recycling bin is to clean for filth such as that.

The message was from Mary 200 and it stated the exact words that you have printed from another contact. I have checked on my profile, and the person who wrote that doesn't seem to exist. That person can only be described as despicable. I have looked in my bin to photocopy that, it is no longer there. Unfortunately it has been deleted and bin emptied.

I've had E Mails such as ths from different sources. They are a scam, it's either identity theft, or attempting launder money, which ever, I have just deleted it, take no notice do not interact or reply, ignore. These people, they are lower than a snakes belly xx

Unfortunately theres no way of getting scum like this off yahoo, I tried to get the personal info off them to report them to the police as I was a victim of scamming , yahoo, said they had to protect privacy, they didnt care about my circumstances . So a warning, dont be taken in by any thoughtful offer, its a scam, that is too good to be true , they are devious , evil scum.
