Just recently found out I have a 2.4cm lesion on my left kidney (am under further investigation) amongst all the other chuffing things I have wrong and as ususal am wondering if there is a thyroid connection?
Has anyone else on here been diganosed with a k... - Thyroid UK
Has anyone else on here been diganosed with a kidney lesion who has thyroid problems?
.....kidneys and the thyroid are on the same meridian in Eastern Medicine ! Just one of my non-medical snippets of thyroid information !! I have nodes on my kidneys which seem to match the ones on my thyroid - well the bigger ones that is. Have been told not to be concerned and have an ultrasound every couple of years....
Hope all goes well for you...
Missdove,
I'm sorry you have another problem and, yes, it can be related to the thyroid gland and this is a link:-
Hi Kidney disease is very common. The main thing is to watch your U`s and E`s ( renal function ) especially Potassium, and sodium, neither too high in range. Also watch your calcium and vit D level, corrected calcium must not go over range.Do not take magnesium unless under medical supervision. Also if you end up having surgery be aware that you could possibly then have a problem with the Adrenal Glands which sit on top of the kidneys.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Thanks Jackie you are always a font of helpful knowledge...Hope you are feeling ok your end D x
Hi Unfortunately it is because of all my medical conditions, still might as well put them all to good use as not much use to me! If I can help further get back to me or send me a PM. I have polycystic kidney and liver disease, a serious cause of renal failure., all my life so kidneys, liver and I are well acquainted!
best wishes,
Jackie
I have a 3cm lesion on the right kidney. I have been taking thyroxine since 2001. I had been complaining to my GP for years about the tiredness etc, He wanted me to have counselling, I knew something was wrong, I saw another GP who referred me for tests, guess what, turns out I had an underactive thyroid. I have been fighting for years to get people to take notice, no one listened. I also found out I was born with a hole in the heart. I have passed so much info through the wire on different sites. I had scans and have been referred to hospital and have more tests. My next visit is in March 2014.
The only way I got some one to take notice was to see the practise manager, since then it has been all systems go. According to unformation I have, HBP is also associated with it.
I am grateful for info supplied, downloaded, then I go from there.
Perhaps it is time we shouted a little louder to be heard.
Many thanks for being there and providing info.
Its amazing Vivante just how many knock on health problems that having a faulty thyroid causes, it still baffles me 4 years on and upsets me that so many of us are a mess due to the lack of care, knowledge and support from the NHS...I like you have had to have see the practice manager and had to stamp my feet and have mini tantrums, I walked out on one GP it was safer for him that way!!!! Finally the 5th GP I saw in the practice is now trying to support me but it feels like its a case of too little too late...D
My next appointment is in March 2014. Thankfully after so many years someone did take note. I am left with a very great sadness and I have asked myself so many times why is it allowed to happen. There are days when I want to scream and shout and there are days when I want to find a dark corner to hide and cry. But we must keep going, not only for ourselves but for all those we hold dear.
Take care. Thank you for you reply.
hi missdove - how did it go with the lesion on your kidney?
