Hi,

Do any of the ladies on here have problems with their hair ? Mine went very thin and broke off, now my meds are getting there it's growing back, but seems to be sticking out in all directions, I seem to have lost control over it. I'm going to have to go much shorter! It's wierd, it never used to be like this ! Thanks in advance. X

I read on here the other day that levo can make your hair curl and that's exactly what my hair is doing, that and falling out. Its got very thin and I am now spending a fortune trying out new hair products. Thought I had found the answer a few months ago at a company called "the dancing dolphine", which is a herbal company on the Isle of Sky but after a few months of using the fantastic products (and fantastic looking, bouncy hair) it is now back to the "dragged through a hedge backwards" look. If you want to try their products (two months of nice hair is better than none.lol) you can get a 10% discount by putting thyroiduk in the promotional code box.

I take 112.5mcg's of levo and my hair falls out more if I have to take 2 x 50mcg's instead of a 100mcg's tablet, so for me it is definately the levo that is making it worse.

I use Moggie's dancing dolphin stuff too, I love their conditioner and have found it lasts quite well.

We live in an extremely hard water area so the shampoos don't lather for me, they cleaned well but felt odd without any foam, sometimes I add a little bit of gentle shampoo to the dancing dolphin shampoo and that makes it foam.

The conditioner on its own is just lovely so it might be just what you need to control your locks.

When I was on Carbimazole only I was allowed to get quite under active before starting levo so I went quite hypo from being very hyper which was a big shock to my system.

Once I got to the right levels for me, my hair stopped falling out and as far as I can see it is now growing again.

I went through quite a few different phases - it started off very greasy and horrible, then became dry like straw and horrible. A combination of dancing dolphin plus the correct dose of levo have now got it back to hair I'm happy with.

I also found the dancing dolphin lotion great for the muscle aches and pains I was getting and their midge repellent is nothing short of amazing for calming down mozzie bites.

Thank you all so much. My hairdresser has cut a lot off and given me a messy style, she has been very clever because its looks much thicker now I scrunch it. I have a deliberate dragged through hedge backwards look, but organized. Must be alright because my 10 year old son said how nice it looks. HE ACTUALLY NOTICED. Perhaps this is the way forwards. Hi moggie, not hair related but I noticed you said your on 112.5 dose. I'm stuck ATM as 100 is too low but 125 too high, my doctor told me the tablets only come in 25's lowest so I'm staying on the higher one ATM. How are you getting the 12.5? Are you cutting tablets in half?

Thanks :)

Yep - invested £3 in a pill cutter and doing it that way. Can be a bit messy at times but works for me.

Yes I bought the same shampoo after Moggie's post. It is very good but a bit costly. I only use it at weekends and have no complaints.

My daughter is a hairdresser, and keeps telling me that these kind of shampoos are a waste of money, as hair is like your nails, nothing you can do to change how it grows.

Massaging the scalp encourages blood flow to the follicles, making your hair grow. Drops of Argan, olive or any type of oil will help with fly away hair and create smoothness.

I haven't bought anything other than what she tells me to get, and touch wood, my hair is doing ok. A bit thinner, but ok.

Thanks ladies.

I have fine hair anyway, so when it went thinner, ( the only bit of me that did ) I was gutted, it's better now but I look like I've had a fright. My hairdresser is trying to style it better for me. Bless her, she likes a challenge !

er - could it be an underlying ferritin problem? darn search doesn't seem to work the way it used to! ah well..

I have curly hair anyway, as do my boys, they want straight hair...tongs....

My girls have straight hair and curl it..tongs...

Mine is getting thinner but hubby has none, so, well.. can't complain really! I did spend £16 on aveda conditioner, only to have it swiped anyway! lol!

Strangely I have found out I don't have dandruff after discontinuing head & shoulders! J :D x
