T3 shortage?

My gp prescribed t 3 for me to try but the pharmacy says there is a supply problem with the manufacturer ??? Is this still true? Or shall I ask to take to another pharmacy company? I'm desperate to try it!!! She says she phoned all the lloyds pharmacies but what if I try boots or something?

Very definitely worth trying any and all other pharmacies. Do you have a paper prescription or did it go to Lloyds electronically?

You can find all the pharmacies in your area by using this NHS page:

I am not aware of any current T3 shortage - but you could simply be the first to report it.

If you continue to have problems, the information that the MHRA put on their website in May this year (when there was a major shortage) may be of use. If you can, print it off and take it with you:

mhra.gov.uk/NewsCentre/What...

And please, please, let us know what happens.

I picked up a T3 prescription last week from Cox & Robinson pharmacy. Don't know if they are national or not but didn't have any problems.

I had to wait over Aug. bank hols ten days without T3 but Boots came up in the end.x

Thank you for your replies! I hadn't thought about taking it elsewhere and the pharmacist was insistent that it was a manufacturer problem. It was hand written so hopefully I will be able to get hold of it tomorrow and take it elsewhere. The dose was only 10mcg I think, but I got the feeling they didn't want to put theirselves out for me! Will update you if problems continue.

Liothyronine is something that individual pharmacies are (relatively) unlikely to have in stock. I think it is often ordered from suppliers in response to prescriptions. So ringing round other branches is, perhaps, less likely to find any than with more common medicines.

Hi when Boots couldn't help I went to superdrug and they had it in stock.Boots now have it ready for me but they said they had difficulty as there had been a shortage initially.

Just to say I've collected my T3 today... Boots were very helpful and took 2-3 days to get supply! Looking forward to taking it tomorrow!!??
