Is it normal for thyroid levels to drop after an increase in meds so then need another increase?
I think this happens when we first start medicating. It is as if we have to keep filling an empty tank. The actual volume of blood in a hypothyroid person is less than in a person without the disease. So as we continue to medicate, the volume of blood increases, thus the need for more thyroid hormones. It really does take time for us to feel better! If you have been hypothyroid for a long time, it will take longer.
that is interesting I remember when I was first diagnosed 20 years now the nurse told me to stop being a blood donor but never explained that one

Hard to know exactly how the process works but if you see just how many different doses are being used by different people, you discover that everyone has to find their own optimal dose. The NHS would prefer to keep everyone on 50 mcg. of thyroxine it seems, but YOU may eventually need 175 mcg. Don't allow them to stop your recovery until you feel well. Best Wishes!
