Doc appointment today re dizzy spells and high blood pressure. He is a wonderful man and we had a nice chat but now I'm still confused. I had stopped my meds because of the dizzy spells. He suggested the same dose 10 mcg T3 and 50 mcg T4 twice a day..I am still getting dizzy spells and headaches and since my visit all I have taken is 50 mcg T4. Should I go back to my full dose or wait and see if I stop spinning? I have an important meeting tomorrow and don't want to look a fool.

Doctor has befuddled me.
beat, I can understand why you have no replies. I don't think anyone can tell you what you should do. I would ask how long you were on the 10/50 twice a day regimen. Was it long enough to find out you were overmedicated? If so, I can understand why you stopped your meds.
How long did you quit the drugs? So your doctor didn't advise you at all? I've switched over from NDT recently and feel T4 was causing problems. But really you are in a sticky situation and if you have no recent blood test results to give you some idea, you really can't know what is going on, can you?
I wish you well at your meeting. The dizzies are very trialsome.
Hi Heloise, I started the 10/50 three months ago but GP upped the dose after a month as I was still under medicated, all went well for the next month. I was starting the fell so much better and the episode a week last Friday came out of the blue.I started to reduce the dose myself even though the Blood test on the higher dose was good. Then I stopped all meds as the dizziness, though not so bad was still there. As soon as I stopped the meds all the old symptoms returned, throat really bad.
I think it is a matter of tweaking the meds,so do I go back to the original dose and be under medicated? we shall have to see.
Thanks for your reply.xx
You could be a T3 only candidate ? Hope the meeting goes well. M x
beaton, I guess your doctor can't make a decision about it either so no wonder you're befuddled. I agree with Marz since I am going with T3 only myself and believe I've never handled T4 very well.
Dr. Rind has a chart that will reveal where the tweaking should be done if you have several test results to compare. (My friend has a TSH of 5 and is dizzy all the time but her doctor will not raise her T4 so I'm inclined to think Under medicated.)
...just another thought ! When your Doc introduced T3 did he lower your T4 or were you already on 50mcg ? 50 is quite a low dose... How is your B12 ? That can sometimes have an effect on balance - and general cognitive issues.
I am T3 only and I have not been monitoring Temps and blood pressure that often. Forget all about it as I feel so much better.... M x
Hi Marz,Before the T3 I was on 150 T4 (April) my B12 was 634. TSH 39.1 T4 7.3 Aug 2 BP up to 150/115 that was when I started dropping the dose. Bloods done on 13th were TSH 0.0037 (range 0.035-4.5) T4 6.4 (range 11-24) I was still feeling dizzy so stopped both meds. Temps are still 35.5-36. BP has now returned to normal. xx
