got to have ultra sound biopsy done on nodules then see consultant 2 weeks after biopsy. thyroxin dose been increased to 100mcg . vocal cords fine despite voice change . he said if no cancer it will be treated with medication or removed if that's not successful. a lot to take in .

Why should they want to remove your thyroid if there is no cancer? Are the nodules causing you problems eating/breathing? I would think if that were the case, then treatment would likely not be an option either. Which leaves me asking, why remove it? There are risks associated with a thyroidectomy which would suggest caution. Obviously if it would be more dangerous not to remove it, fine.

It IS a lot to take in, perhaps it is best to focus on one thing at a time. Wait to see what the antibodies and the biopsy reveal, that is the first step. Hope it is good news, especially the biopsy.

thankyou I hope so too . . I am trying to just take it step by step but I just cant think of anything else but what was said . breathing is ok but do have problems swallowing sometimes. I hope its just a case of adjusting my meds and everything being fine in the end . really don't relish the thought of surgery and the long uphill struggle after. just hope ultrasound biopsy isn't long off happening at least then I will know what im up against. how long do antibodie bloodtest results take to come through or will I not be told that until the appointment following biopsy ?

Hi there,

I'm new to this thyroid business , but I do know that results can come back the following day although they do say about a week. I managed to get my antibodies results straight away.

Really hope you get on okay x

thankyou, just found out needle biopsy is next fri and then have got a month wait to see consultant due to them being fully booked until then . cant think of anything worst than that wait but im guessing I will know sooner if there is anything wrong. thanks again for your reply
