I have a large goiter and the carbimazole is not reducing my thyroid function fast enough, and i am now having problems breathing and swallowing so if i opt for rai will i then need to have the surgery also

You would need surgery to remove the goiter so if you had a TT then you wouldn't need RAI.

I had RAI because carbimazol did not work for me either. My Goitre and choking, swallowing and breathing problems improved quickly but I was given a high dose and continued carbimazol and propanonol for a while because I was extremely hyper. Surgery was not needed. Hope it gets sorted for you soon x.
