may i please ask about any experiences anyone has has with multi-nodudlar surgery please. what it was like before and after?
Hi. I had a toxic multinodular goitre for 9 years before I had it removed 4 months ago. It was monitored yearly with ultrasounds and biopsies and blood tests. I never rushed to have it removed until this year, purely because it wasn't causing me problems and although I was slightly hyper, it was not enough to warrant treatment. Anyway, the last ultrasound I had showed that it had deviated my trachea. By this time I was also having a feeling of something pressing on my throat the whole time plus a big ugly lump and shortness of breath. Thats when I decided to go for the thyroidectomy. Now I have no lump, no pressure in my throat and feel well most of the time. I'm glad I had surgery but also glad that I waited the 9 years before. Hope this helps.
thank you for that. what makes you happy about the wait? that was an option for me but i didnt want to risk it?
I was happy to wait because at that time I felt well and had also had a baby so was busy with life and not wanting to have an operation that I didn't actually need at that time, although I knew I would need it in the future. The fact that I was monitored yearly put me at ease too.
