No but a friend from N Scotland did. Her GP referred via NHS but he could be private.

She will tell you more but seems good.

Hi Joan,

I wondered if you consulted Dr Gallacher? I am currently looking for an endo in the Glasgow area and would welcome the benefit of your experience :)

Joan,

Am wondering if you ever saw Dr Gallacher? Reason I am asking is that I am thinking about consulting an endocrinologist privately. His name came up in my search but I also came across a review in iWantGreatCare slating him so am left in a quandary and am wondering how others have found him.

Did you go to see Dr Gallacher? I'm thinking of making an appointment with him so any pointers would be much appreciated.

No. Am still looking. If you find one in central Scotland, that is prepared to prescribe T3, please let me know.

I saw Dr Mukhopadhay at Ross Hall a while back. I wanted NDT but he said to try levo in the first instance before looking at other things. He wasn't totally opposed to it and said he had patients it worked really well for - but wouldn't prescribe it. All that to say he was open to talking and trying things so maybe he would prescribe t3? He works at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride I think under the nhs if your in that area.

That's ironic. I was having difficulty with GP practice over T4 /T3 issue so addressed it with my neurologist who made a referral to Dr M but Dr M body - swerved it by referring me to Monklands Hospital where I saw an endocrinologist who was obnoxious and I am considering putting in a formal complaint against her.

Oh that's rotten. I wonder if the docs are freer outwith the nhs? I use clinic 158 on Hyndland Rd for LDN. I emailed to make an appointment with Dr Mccall but he's retired from the practice. The receptionist told me they have dispensing doctors who will prescribe NDT so maybe they'll prescribe t3? The cost they quoted for the ndt was exorbitant so I didn't go for it. A shame as the LDN is quite cheap.

Is the LDN being used in connection with Hashimoto's and how are you finding it?

Did anyone go see Dr Gallacher? I'm thinking of making an appointment with him - or online with with Dr Nicole Hembry.

Who is Dr Hembry?

She is a doctor who works in Bristol - she uses bioidentical hormones and is a bit more left-field in her practice. She has a website. I emailed her yesterday for a Skype consultation but you have to go in person and alas I'm not up to that.

I was at Ross hall this evening and it sounds like dr Gallacher is winding down his clinics. Not sure if it was retirement or something else.

Yes I have seen privately at Ross hall he took five minutes to diagnose me as I gave him a printed list of all my symptoms and he asked me to see the nurse for a blood test came back second appointment showed my antibodies were sky high so he started me on 50 of Levo. ! I will always be (pathetically)grateful he diagnosed me as the NHS consultant my Gp asked to see me refused saying it was definitely not my thyroid and my Gp told me it was Chronic fatigue syndrome, hence the reason I had to go private.

However on subsequent visits again privately he would only give me 100 mcg and refused to believe my symptoms had not disappeared on this medication, so we parted company.I have heard bad report about him since, not believing symptoms sticking to tiny doses of levo etc etc There are better consultants out there. Try Dr McGrane he's NHS at Queen Elizabeth.
